Sony Pictures had the second highest percentage of female directors from the years 2015 to 2019, with a total of 15 percent during that period. A slate analysis looked at the share of movies released in the U.S. with female directors, here presented by distributor. The study found the greatest increase in female representation came from STX Entertainment, from zero percent in 2015 to 25 percent in 2019. STX Entertainment had the highest mean total over five years with 17 percent of female directors. The movie studio offering the least amount of representation was by far Paramount, with female directors making up zero percent of total directors in every year from 2015 to 2019.
