As of April 2020, over 23 percent of surveyed hospital doctors in the United Kingdom reported that during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic they had to buy their own personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies or received donations because of the lack of official supplies. A further 14 percent of doctors said they had been donated or bought PPE equipment for their department/practice.
