In 2023, roughly a quarter of the physicians surveyed in the U.S. reported that the process of prior authorization (PA) had led to a serious adverse event for a patient in their care. Specifically, one in five physicians reported PA has led to hospitalization of a patient in their care, while ** percent had a patient who experienced a life-threatening event or required intervention to prevent permanent damage due to PA.
