The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown across Europe, saw a noticeable change in the amount of electricity generated throughout Europe. Between *** and ***, 2020, the output from all fuels dropped by approximately ** percent when compared to the same period in the previous year. The biggest changes for demand were from coal-fired electricity, with the output from lignite and hard coal dropping by ** and ** percent respectively.
