Chinese demand for electric vehicle batteries increased between 2016 and 2024. In 2024, the demand for EV batteries amounted to about 560 gigawatt hours in China. This represented more than half of the global market for electric vehicle batteries that year.
China is by far the largest market for electromobility, and its electric vehicle industry has also been growing in the past years, influencing the country's demand for EV batteries.
