At the beginning of March 2020, the Italian government imposed a national lockdown in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. As of this month, tourist accommodations in Bologna only recorded about *** arrivals of both national and international travelers. This was a dramatic drop compared to the figures recorded in March 2019, when the city registered roughly *** thousand tourist arrivals overall.
