The year 2016 was considered the year with the highest number of crimes related to battery or other acts of violence before Romanian courts. Although the number increased between 2015 and 2017, it has decreased over the last two years. Thus, in 2020, a total of 4,102 cases were recorded, which is the lowest number of crimes related to battery or other acts of violence in the last five years.
However, the biggest problem highlighted by these statistics concerned the ability of judges to solve cases while keeping up with the enormous number of crimes that still take place every year. As a result, despite an increase in the number of closed cases between 2015 and 2016, the number of pending cases has also increased.
