As of April 2022, there were ** bottling plants across the western state of Maharashtra in India. This amounted to a bottling capacity of around *** million metric tons per annum. Overall, the bottling capacity across the country stood at around **** million metric tons per annum.
The government introduced the Ujjwala scheme to provide free and clean cooking fuel to every household. The aim of the scheme was to replace traditional cooking fuels in the rural areas such as firewood and cow dung as they contribute to environmental degradation and also have adverse health effects.
