The figures prior to 2020 were obtained from a "Fuel and Energy Complex of Russia 2019" published by the Analytical Center to the Government of the Russian Federation, page 42.
The figure for 2020 was obtained from citing the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.
The figure for 2021 was obtained from citing Gazprom gas-engine fuel.

In 2021, *** billion cubic meters of compressed natural gas (CNG) were used by vehicles in Russia. The volume has steadily increased since 2011, when it was measured at *** million cubic meters. In the country's second largest city Saint Petersburg, approximately *** thousand buses, trucks, and special vehicles were planned to operate on natural gas fuel by the year 2023.
