Share of most common alcohol consumed in India 2017-2018 by type
According to a survey on substance use in India between December 2017 and October 2018, a majority of current alcohol users consumed country liquor or Indian made foreign liquor, also known as spirits at ** percent respectively. Additionally, the survey found that respondents from the north-eastern states in the country preferred to use home-made rice beer over other alcohol types. On the other hand, the state of Bihar saw the highest proportion of respondents who reported regular use of illicit liquor.
