In 2024, Mexico was the Latin American country with the highest number of medical centers that performed small bowel transplants among selected nations, with a total of eight institutions. Brazil and Colombia followed with five medical centers specialized in small bowel transplants. That same year, approximately 1,400 organ transplants were completed in Colombia, including kidney, heart, lung, liver, pancreas, and small bowel interventions.
