This chart displays the number of refugees that the European Union (EU) member states were obliged to relocate from Greece, Hungary, and Italy, according to the European Commission proposal of September 2015. Out of the total of ** refugees that were planned to be relocated, Germany was supposed to admit * persons, while Spain was assigned * persons. Only *** refugees were to be transferred to Slovenia. The proposal was a response to a sharp increase in illegal border crossings.
