Vacation travel behavior in Germany has changed significantly after the coronavirus pandemic. This was due to the fact that for a long time, it was simply not possible to exhibit said behavior because of border closures. However, in 2022, travel was reborn. While the tourism and travel industries are still working towards recovery and contending with a number of new challenges due to the current energy crisis, numbers across the board are returning to pre-pandemic levels. Travelers are keen to go places, and schemes such as the Deutschlandticket are set to have a positive impact on train travel in the country. In 2023, around 77 percent of Germans went on at least one vacation during the year.
