Whilst cryptocurrencies can have dramatic price swings, the likes of Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) actively seek to avoid that. This group of crypto 鈥 some of which ranked among the top 120 cryptocurrencies - are called stablecoin, named after their desired price stability. In 2025, this digital asset is discussed at length among U.S. policymakers, with legislation - the so-called GENIUS (Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins) Act - possibly on the way this year still. How big, then, is the adoption of stablecoins, and could they disrupt financial services?
