It is comprised of John Lewis and Partners, a chain of shops and department stores, and the supermarket chain, Waitrose and Partners. Alongside these two major retailers, JLP is expanding into the services sector, offering insurance and personal finance services, among others. The company is called a Partnership, due to its employee-owned business model. Its 69,000 employees are known as Partners and are given shares in the company, which are held by a trust. As such, partners receive a share of JLP’s profits as a yearly bonus.
