Health outcomes in the United States often lag behind those of other high-income countries and vary significantly across demographic, socioeconomic, and regional groups. Differences in income, education, race and ethnicity, and geographic location are closely linked to uneven access to healthcare, preventive services, and health-promoting environments. At the same time, the United States has experienced long-term improvements in population health.
