Aviation industry in Denmark - statistics & facts
Since the first experimental flights conducted by Jacob Ellehammer in the early 1900s, Denmark has made significant achievements in the aviation industry. Specifically, research and innovation activities for aircraft design, navigation systems, and aviation-related technologies made the country one of the aviation pioneers throughout the years. Denmark’s political agenda is to achieve the Net Zero emission goals determined in the Paris Agreement. This makes Denmark one of the forefront countries of the green aviation transition since the country has been actively searching for ways to reduce carbon emissions in the aviation industry. The national airline of Sweden, SAS- Scandinavian Airlines released three million metric tons of CO 2 as of 2023 . The airline firm hopes to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by commercializing SAF use in flight operations by 2030.
