Angola ranked among the 10 largest economies in Africa as of 2021, despite the remaining effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. That year, the country’s GDP totaled 74.5 billion U.S. dollars, registering a small growth of 0.65 percent, the first positive performance in recent years. In 2020, the Angolan economy shrunk by 5.6 percent, as an effect of the COVID-19 outbreak and the concomitant sharp fall in oil prices. By 2022, the African nation is expected to show even stronger signs of recovery, with GDP growth estimated at three percent.
