Bicycle market in Italy - statistics & facts
E-bikes’ popularity is growing rapidly in Italy. Italians bought almost five times more e-bikes in 2019 than they did just five years ago while sales of regular bikes remained relatively stable. Still, cycling continues to be more an occasional activity than a trusted means of transport for most Italians. Given Italy’s long and rich cycling history, this may seem surprising. However, things are changing, especially in the north of Italy, where the use of private bicycles, as well as bike sharing services, are becoming more popular.
