The price of battery packs has decreased by 75 percent in the last 10 years, as this energy storage technology has become increasingly important in the electric mobility and renewable energy sectors. Recent estimates show that the
average global price of lithium-ion batteries will reach 112 U.S. dollars per kilowatt-hour in 2025.
Battery pack prices are projected to drop below the 100 U.S. dollars price benchmark in the next couple of years to 60 U.S. dollars per kilowatt-hour by 2030.
Behind this declining trend is a combination of market factors, such as reduced
prices of battery metals, investments in technology innovation for lower-cost batteries,
overproduction of battery cell manufacturing in China, and the global slowdown of
electric vehicle sales.
