In 2022, the United Kingdom had the third-largest share of the population that was overweight or obese in Europe, at nearly 64 percent. With a population of over 68 million as of 2023, these figures translate to tens of millions of people with an unhealthy weight residing in the country. According to a survey conducted in 2022, 36 percent of men and 41 percent of women in Great Britain reported putting on extra weight after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the age group between 25 and 49 years being the most affected.
