In 2024/25, there were around 5.5 thousand women in England who had a primary diagnosis of obesity and a bariatric surgery, while just under one thousand  men also had this procedure. Significantly more women compared to men undergo this procedure, although numbers have been lower since the COVID-19 pandemic.
