India's solar energy market is experiencing significant and rapid growth, establishing itself as a global leader in solar power deployment. Indeed, in 2023, India was the third-largest solar energy producer in the world, adding over 16.6 GW of new solar installations. This growth is driven by ambitious government targets, declining costs of solar technology, increasing energy demand, and a favorable policy environment. India's commitment to clean energy is evident in its target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030, with solar power expected to contribute a substantial portion, aiming for 280 GW of solar PV capacity by that year. As of January 31, 2025, India has reached a significant milestone of 100 gigawatts in solar installed capacity.
