The UK data center industry is under the spotlight. The AI Opportunities Action Plan, a major report presented to the government in early 2025, identifies data centers as essential in supporting the nation’s broader artificial intelligence ambitions. The report calls for the establishment of AI Growth Zones intended to develop digital infrastructure and unlock investment, reflecting a global trend of governments taking a more active role in shaping data center expansion.
