Vietnam-United States trade relations - statistics & facts
In the 1990s, Vietnam and the United States reestablished trade relations, ending more than two decades without economic ties after the Vietnam War. Since then, Vietnam has steadily emerged as a significant trade partner for the U.S. , particularly as a key exporter to the world’s largest economy. In 2024, Vietnam ranked sixth among the U.S.’s top trading partners by import value. However, a potential shift in trade dynamics may arise from President Trump’s recently proposed reciprocal tariff rate, which could disrupt the current status quo between the two countries.
