Housing market in Finland - statistics & facts
Finland's housing market is divided by location and between renting and owning. While renting houses and apartments is common among younger people, owning a house or apartment is a long-term goal for many Finns. The distribution of the population between different dwelling types shows that as of 2023, around 44 percent of Finns live in a detached house and close to 38 percent in a flat. In general, the homeownership rate in the country ranks around the average of the European Union (EU).
