Medical technology in Brazil – statistics & facts
Brazil is the largest market for medical technology in Latin America. In 2024, revenue generated by in vitro diagnostics and medical devices in the South American country was estimated at over 12 billion U.S. dollars, with medical devices accounting for the larger revenue share, and figures forecast to consistently increase in the coming years. Cardiology devices, such as pacemakers, generate the highest revenue among sub-segments, followed by diagnostic imaging and orthopedic devices. The local MedTech industry is composed of close to 2,400 companies, providing employment to nearly 68,000 people and reaching a production value of more than 15 billion Brazilian reals as of 2022. This is equivalent to nearly three billion U.S. dollars.
