Inbound tourism in South Korea - statistics & facts
Since the COVID-stricken year of 2021, South Korea鈥檚 tourism industry has experienced a remarkable 1,000 percent increase in inbound visitors. With quarantine restrictions lifted, travelers have been able to shift their spending to leisure-related industries. Unsurprisingly, Seoul was strongly favored as a destination, with over 80 percent of international tourists visiting the vibrant capital city. Besides being a popular destination, particularly for Asian travelers, South Korea has lived up to its reputation, with over 92 percent of visitors in 2023 reporting that they intended to return within the next three years.
