News Corp: not the snappiest name for a news corporation, but does the name not aptly describe the company’s MO? Almost. News Corp’s media properties now include everything from financial newspaper The Wall Street Journal in the U.S., all the way to Foxtel in Australia, and book publisher HarperCollins. In 2023, News Corp’s book publishing and SVOD segments each generated almost two billion U.S. dollars in revenue. Dollars aside, though, the company is not without its colorful history. With media mogul Rupert Murdoch at the helm, scandals at News UK publications beginning in the 1990s reached new heights in the early 2000s and 2010s. In other news, the company’s stake in the British press could be set to grow even larger.
