Founded in 1888, the English Football League (EFL) is the oldest football league in the world. It encompasses the second, third, and fourth tiers of English professional football, with the Premier League having broken off in 1992. The EFL Championship is one of the most elite second-tier football leagues in the world, and the combined revenue of Championship clubs amounted to 676 million British pounds in 2021/22. The EFL also runs cup competitions such as the English League Cup, with the winners automatically qualifying for the UEFA Conference League.
