Aviation industry in Finland - statistics & facts
In the early 20th century, the history of the aviation industry in Finland began; later, all the developments opened the doors to establishing commercial aviation with the birth of the national flag carrier, Finnair. Today, as one of the northernmost countries in the world, Finland's aviation industry still plays a pivotal role in connecting the country with the outside world. Throughout the years, the country highly valued the industry's development. The investment spending on airport infrastructures was strongly growing year-over-year until the coronavirus pandemic, however it has been decreasing since then. In 2022, Finland spent only 63 million euros on the infrastructure projects of the airports. This was considerably lower than the 190 million euros spent in the pre-pandemic year, 2019.
