While the sport many might associate Wales with is rugby, football also forms a key part of the nation’s sporting landscape. In 2022, the share of adults in Wales following football rose to 47 percent, possibly inspired by the men’s national team qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1958. Meanwhile, participation is also strong, with football being the most popular community club sport among children in Wales.
