Video games have reached the center of society. In most countries, more than 70% of internet users play video games – the share of those paying for gaming is on average above 50%. Although their fan base is increasing, video games are losing shelf space: Only 12% of gamers in the U.S. rely on data carriers only when purchasing games. The majority of games is purchased as downloads, in-game purchases and subscriptions, with revenues increasing.
