In 2023, Davide Campari-Milano N.V. was the leading liqueur and spirits firm in Italy based on revenues. According to the figures provided by the revenues generated by this company in 2023 amounted to over ****billion euros. Between 2013 and 2017, the market share of Campari increased from ** to **** percent.  

Spirits and liqueurs industry in Italy

Between 2016 and 2023, the  earnings before taxes (EBT) of a significant sample of companies active in the spirits and liqueurs sector showed some fluctuations, going from *** to *** million euros. Those companies also experienced a growth in terms of net result, given that it increased from ** million euros in 2016 to *** million euros in 2023.   

Spirits and liqueurs consumption in Italy

On the other hand, the demand side was quite steady. In fact, between 2016 and 2019, the level of spirits consumption in Italy remained stable at approximately *** million hectoliters. A survey in 2018 revealed that both spirits and liqueurs were not very popular among Italian consumers of alcoholic beverages, who rather preferred to drink beer or wine.
