In 2024, the number of liver transplants performed in Brazil amounted to interventions, down from the liver procedures reported a year earlier, marking a significant decline. With the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, liver transplants declined in Brazil, interrupting an uptrend observed since 2013, when liver interventions added up to procedures. As of 2021, the liver was the organ with the third largest number of waiting patients in the South American country.
