The Ballon d'Or (or Golden Ball in English) is an annual soccer award presented by French weekly magazine, France Football. The Ballon d'Or has been awarded since 1956. Players like Johan Cruyff, Franz Beckenbauer, Zinedine Zidane or Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, commonly known as Kaká, have won the trophy. In recent years, Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentinian Lionel Messi have dominated the ceremony. They have won the award a record **** times each.
