Huawei, the Chinese market leader in telecommunications, has filed over patents globally as of early 2020, followed closely by its South Korean counterpart Samsung. Meanwhile, Huawei has also contributed the highest number of standards worldwide as of 2018, where the only comparable counterpart is Ericsson from Sweden.

Unsurprisingly, the telecommunications industry has been among the first industries to take advantage of the unprecedented speeds of 5G mobile internet technology, through smartphones, tablets, and other mobile gadgets.
