In 2024, Deutsche Bahn's DB (German national train services) InfraGO division invested around **** billion euros in infrastructure (rail network and stations) - a record. According to the Group, this will halt the further aging of the railroad infrastructure for the first time in many years and significantly improve the condition of the rail network. The figures include all facilities related to the moving train - i.e. rail lines, bridges, overhead lines, signals, stations, traction current supply (until 2023), etc.. Investments in vehicles such as ICE trains or freight wagons are not included. As the figures also include federal state and own funds, the federal government's expenditure on rail infrastructure is in some cases lower than the figures shown here.
