*Gender Parity Scores (GPS) are made up of 15 indicators of gender equality in work and society, weighted equally. GPS runs from 0 (no gender equality) to 1.0 (parity); for instance, a 0.95 ratio represents 5 percent distance from gender parity. GPS categories: extremely high: 0-0.5; high: 0.5-0.75; medium: 0.75-0.95; low: 0.95-1.
Work category comprises labor-force participation, professional and technical jobs, perceived wage gap for similar work, leadership positions, and unpaid care work.
Essential services and enablers of economic opportunity category includes unmet need for family planning, maternal mortality, education, financial inclusion, and digital inclusion.
Legal protection and political voice category comprises political representation and a legal protection index (including, for example, legislation protecting against domestic violence, providing equal inheritance rights and paternity or parental leave, and mandating non-discrimination in hiring).
Physical security and autonomy category comprises sex ratio at birth, child marriage, and violence against women.
