Quarterly FDI in the Mexican automotive industry 2015-2021
Foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Mexican automotive industry plummeted in 2020, amidst the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. From January to December that year, a net of 3.87 billion U.S. dollars were invested in the Mexican sector, down from 7.41 billion dollars in the same period of the previous year. In the third quarter alone, a divestment of nearly 1.5 billion dollars was reported in the country, the first time such a result was reported for the third quarter since records began.
