The score is calculated by sorting the hospitals in descending order, by number of equipment. The number of units of each hospital is then divided by the number of units of the hospital with the largest amount. Thus, the hospital with the highest number of units receives a score of one, and the index shows how the subsequent hospitals compare to the first one.
