Citation formats

With a market share of ** percent, DHL has grown since 2010 to become the global leader of the courier, express and parcel delivery market. This growth has largely come at the expense of FedEx, whose market share has declined to ** percent.

Global products

Although DHL is the global leader, in the Americas both FedEx and United Parcel Service (UPS) maintain a higher market share. FedEx also operates a much larger air cargo service than DHL, being the largest cargo airline in the world. However, DHL is a much larger provider of third-party logistics than the other courier companies, also being the global leader in this industry. UPS is also a significant player in this market.

Consolidated size

The differing specializations of each company mean that, when sales from all services are consolidated, DHL remains the largest delivery and logistics provider in terms of revenue – but not by much. In 2018, UPS reported consolidated revenue of within *** billion U.S. dollars of DHL, and FedEx was only *** billion dollars behind. Overall, the courier, express and parcel market, which excludes delivery and logistics services for freight, was valued at * billion euros in 2018.
