This statistic depicts the National Single Price (PUN) trend on the Italian Power Exchange from 2007 to 2017. According to data, the average price of electricity on the power exchange has often fluctuated, over the period of consideration. However, from 2012 onwards, it experienced a constant trend of decrease, culminating in the lowest value of **** euros per megawatt hours, as of 2016. The value increased again in 2017.
The source ascribes the price decline of the previous years to three main factors. Namely, the reduction of the electricity demand, the increasing incidence of renewable sources and the price reduction of some commodities, such as gas and coal.
