The 2017 findings reveal that ** percent of respondents agreed that data collected by governments should be owned by the citizens they collected it from, and ** percent agreed that data generated by Canadians should be protected and regulated like a natural resource. Conversely, ** percent of respondents agreed that data collected by governments should be given freely to the private sector in order to create products, services, jobs and economic growth.
