In 2025, a total of merger and acquisition deals were completed in Germany. Although this figure represents an increase compared to the previous year, it remains significantly lower than the levels recorded between 2018 and 2022, when M&A activity was particularly strong due to favorable financing conditions, lower interest rates, and high investor confidence. Mergers & acquisitions are corporate takeovers or mergers. It is a collective term for corporate transactions in which companies merge or change ownership. As a rule, such a takeover takes place by way of a company purchase.
