This statistic depicts the household consumption of solid biomasses for heating systems in Italy from 2013 to 2017, by type. Overall, firewood was the kind of biomass used the most. Pellet accounted much less than firewood as a source of thermal energy. Nonetheless, its use increased over the years passing from thousand tons in 2014 to thousand tons in 2017. The use of charcoal was, instead, minimal.
