This statistic shows the answers to a survey question on the consumer willingness to use mobile payments in the Netherlands in 2017. Nearly half of the respondents indicated they would want to that both "everywhere" and "as soon as possible". Mobile payment apps are pieces of software made for the ease of making payments on smartphones and tablet devices. Examples of this include mobile wallets, such as PayPal, Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay, as well as specifically designed apps from banks or retail companies. The user clicks directly on the app to pay, opposed to online banking or logging on with a web browser to a web store. In the last years, the number of available mobile payment apps in the Benelux countries steadily increased. In the Netherlands, banking apps from major banks as Rabobank, ING and ABN Amro were updated in 2013 to enable checkouts using iDEAL, a payment method with a current market share of over ** percent. In March 2017, Belgian banks BNP Paribas Fortis, Fintro and Hello Bank! launched their support for Android Pay whilst the Swedish mobile payment platform Seqr was introduced in Luxembourg in July 2016.
