In November 2017, the GOP proposed a change to the federal income tax structure, which would allow homeowners to only deduct up to 10,000 U.S. dollars from their federal income taxes. There is currently no such cap on deductions. In that year, **** percent of the homes in Luna County, New Mexico had property taxes above 10,000 U.S. dollars, which means that **** percent of homeowners in that county could see an increase in their federal income taxes if this proposed change becomes reality.
