According to a survey conducted in 2022 in France, almost eight out of every 10 respondents reported using their mobile phones for downloading mobile applications. In comparison, ** percent of female respondents reported downloading apps through their mobile phones.
Most used mobile apps
In a ranking of the *** most consulted mobile applications among people aged between 15 and 34 in France, it appears that Instagram and Snapchat were the two most used apps among young French people in 2021. The two apps had a visit rate of ** and ** percent respectively. In addition to this, the average time spend on entertainment apps amounted to ** minutes, while games apps were used about ** minutes per day by the French throughout all age groups.
 
Mobile apps in consumption habits
Mobile applications appear to take a growing importance in consumption habits. A survey conducted in 2018 revealed that, although only a minority of French people used an app to track their nutrition, ** percent of respondents consulted a mobile app to research the composition of products while shopping and one third would be interested in using such an app. A further example of mobile apps shaping consumption habits in France would be apps against food waste. Among the most popular apps in this category, Too Good To Go was known by ** percent of French people.
