Mobile telephony at the top of the Brazilian telecoms market

As in the rest of the world, the telecoms industry in Brazil is one of the most important markets in the country. In recent years, the revenues generated by this industry grew, reaching around *** U.S. dollars in 2023. Mobile telecoms services account for most of the overall telecoms market in the Latin American country. Indeed, over the past two decades, the mobile telephony market size rocketed, whereas the revenues of the fixed-telephony sub-industry decreased. As easily understandable, this phenomenon is mainly due to the constantly increasing penetration of smartphones, devices that have massively contributed to the decline of fixed telephony.

Samsung smartphones dominating the industry

In Brazil, the smartphone market was expected to record revenues of over ** billion U.S. dollars in 2024 – a number forecast to remain relatively stable in the coming years. Many consumer electronics vendors have since long joined the Brazilian smartphone industry, with the main players being Samsung, Motorola, and Apple. In particular, Samsung was the leader in 2023, occupying around ** percent of the market. Motorola and Apple followed, with a combined share of less than what Samsung held.
